Dr. David W. Lee is an accomplished pediatric dentist, educator and community leader with more than three decades of experience across clinical practice, academia, research and service. His professional journey reflects an enduring commitment to advancing pediatric oral health, promoting interdisciplinary education, and improving access to care for underserved and special-needs populations.

At the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, University of the Pacific, Dr. Lee serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, where he plays a pivotal role in curriculum development, teaching and mentorship. He is one of four core faculty members leading the development of the school’s pediatric dental residency program, bringing extensive clinical expertise and leadership to this transformative initiative.

Dr. Lee earned his Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from the University of California, San Francisco (1997), his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from University of the Pacific School of Dentistry (1988), and his Bachelor of Arts (AB) in Integrative Biology from the University of California, Berkeley (1991).

Dr. Lee’s dedication to teaching is evident through his mentorship in the Personal Instructional Program (PIP), guiding students in research areas such as pediatric obstructive sleep apnea, motivational interviewing, and interprofessional collaboration. 

Equally passionate about community service, Dr. Lee has volunteered with the California Department of Public Health, Alliance for Smiles, Tzu Chi Foundation USA, and the San Francisco Department of Public Health. His outreach efforts include school-based dental screenings, juvenile justice initiatives and free community clinics, demonstrating his lifelong dedication to addressing oral health disparities.

Dr. Lee’s expertise spans pediatric behavioral management and preventive dentistry for children with developmental and medical complexities. His collaborative work with aligns closely with the mission of the UC Davis MIND Institute’s Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) Program, where he continues to expand his interdisciplinary expertise.

Known for his professionalism, humility and compassion, Dr. Lee continues to inspire students, colleagues, and the broader dental community through his commitment to humanistic education, clinical excellence, and community service.
