Email Address

A Californian most of her life, Dr. Michelle Dang earned a BS in Nursing from San Francisco State University, an MS in Nursing from California State University, Sacramento, and a PhD in Human Development from the University of California, Davis. A nurse educator for over 20 years, Dr. Dang's areas of expertise are community and public health nursing, evidence-based practice, and nursing education. She is a nationally certified Quality Matters Master Reviewer and holds a California public health nurse certificate and a California school nurse credential. Dr. Dang currently teaches NURS 222, Evidence-Based Research in Health Care, and NURS 233, Teaching and Learning in Nursing.

Prior to joining Pacific, Dr. Dang served as a tenured professor in the School of Nursing at Sacramento State, teaching community health nursing, evidence-based nursing practice, and human sexuality. She led campus-wide faculty learning communities, including the integration of generative artificial intelligence in health professions education. She also served as co-principal investigator on multiple grants supporting student success. Over her career, Dr. Dang has practiced as a nurse in a range of settings, including medical-surgical, maternal-newborn, public health, and school nursing, and has led multiple research projects focused on vulnerable youth and underserved populations.

What Dr. Dang loves about teaching at Pacific is the opportunity to prepare nurses who will serve their communities with both clinical skill and compassion. She enjoys connecting evidence to bedside and population-level practice and finds inspiration in helping students see themselves as lifelong learners and as contributors to the science of nursing. She hopes that her students will graduate prepared to become nurse leaders and changemakers in their profession and communities. Outside of teaching, Dr. Dang is a competitive pétanque player who has represented the United States in international competitions.
